Severo has been a clinical director of Eurovisión Perú since 2000.
Severo Sánchez Melgarejo is the founder and director of the Eurohispano Institute of Optometry and Sciences, established in 1997. This institution has been at the forefront of optometric education in the region.
In 1999, he founded the OPTOVISION International Congress, a renowned event focusing on optometry, contactology, and ophthalmic optics. This congress has become a significant platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration among professionals.
Severo holds a Master’s degree in Optometry and Vision Therapy from COI in Madrid, Spain. Additionally, he pursued master’s and doctoral studies in Public Health at the Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal. Between 2013 and 2019, he served as an external professor for the Master’s program in Advanced Optometry and Vision Sciences.
Severo is an active member of several prestigious organizations. Since 2003, he has been a member of the World Council of Optometry (WCO), USA, and since 2016, he has been affiliated with the American Optometric Association (AOA), USA.
He joined VOSH International, USA, in 2005 and is also part of the Franklin Harms Society, a group dedicated to supporting global optometric initiatives. In 2023, he became a member of The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), UK. Additionally, Severo is a proud member of Rotary International through the El Rímac Rotary Club.
In recognition of his humanitarian efforts, Severo was honored with the Humanitarian of the Year Award 2021 by VOSH International, USA.
