For the sixth episode, I spoke with a 27-year-old Aiganym from Germany. She has lived with her left lazy eye since childhood. Her boyfriend found out about AmblyoPlay on the internet, and she decided to give it a try. She bravely embarked on her vision therapy journey, and she revealed that her lazy eye had already improved! The only wish she has is that AmblyoPlay would have been available when she was a child.
How did you come across AmblyoPlay vision therapy?
To be honest my boyfriend found it. I have always had a problem with my eye but did not do much about it. Once I needed to have an appointment with a doctor and my boyfriend started to read about my eye (that it actually does not see much), he found AmblyoPlay and suggested me to try.
Can you briefly describe what kind of vision problems are you treating with AmblyoPlay?
My left eye was always weak from childhood. It doesn’t see much and as I have never treated it nor did exercises it got so to say “lazy” and never learned to see. So, I am treating my lazy eye with AmblyoPlay.
Did you take any previous approaches for treating your lazy eye?
When I was a child, around 15 years ago I visited a hospital, and they told me to do exercises. So I visited the hospital for about 2 weeks, couple of weeks a day, and did exercises at the computer. It was usually that type of exercises when I closed one eye and played certain games. However, since then I have not done anything to cure my eye.
What was your starting point and how is the progress with lazy eye treatment going?
In the beginning it was very difficult for my lazy left eye to do any type of training. It hurt for some time. However, after a couple of times of training I feel that I was seeing more with my left eye. Its not so sharp but I feel I can see more.
For how long you have been using the AmblyoPlay software and what are the outcomes?
I have been using for a couple of months. I do not remember exactly but I think surely more than 4 months. Before AmblyoPlay, my left eye could not see much, especially the right part of the image, it was kind of greyed out. However, now I can even see more of the right sight of the picture. It’s less grey and I can see more.
What is your overall experience with AmblyoPlay?
I like it. It’s easy to use and games are changing, so it’s not so boring. Sometimes I cannot manage to do two batches because I work during the day and in the evening I am so tired that I have energy only for one time. I try to manage two times but then it’s actually 45 mins at once, which is a lot and I feel tired afterwards. I do not manage to do exercise during the first half of the day, so I can only do them in the evening.
Would you recommend AmblyoPlay to others?
Definitely! I wish I had it when I was a child. Maybe I would see everything if I started earlier.
