HELPING YOU HELP YOUR CHILD

Lazy eye

My child has lazy eye. Will AmblyoPlay help?

YES! AmblyoPlay is specifically targeting lazy eye or amblyopia. Problem of lazy eye is that one eye is less developed than the other so the brain has hard time using images of the both eyes. Consequently, good vision cannot be developed. A child’s vision develops in the first few years of life, so it is important to start with vision therapy as soon as the problem is diagnosed. With AmblyoPlay, we provide stimuli to the lazy eye as well as train the brain how to use both eyes together. We achieve this through interactive games and exercises that help rebuild neurological links between the eyes and the brain!

Strabismus

Strabismus

My child has strabismus. Will AmblyoPlay help?

YES! In large majority of cases AmblyoPlay can help mitigate problem of strabismus. This is especially true to mild strabismus and post-surgical treatment when we have to train eye muscles to prevent reverting back to eye turn. Strabismus is when eye is deviating from the axis, which is a consequence of one of the eye muscles being to weak. With AmblyoPlay, we train eye muscles with exercises and games that force the eye to turn in many directions. Although strabismus and lazy eye are separate problems, there can be a correlation between them. If we fail to treat strabismus, amblyopia can develop.
Convergence Insufficiency

convergence insufficiency

My child has convergence insufficiency. Will AmblyoPlay help?

YES! AmblyoPlay is binocular vision therapy, which means that we use both eyes to treat the problems. Convergence is essential skill for developing good binocularity, which depends on the ability of using both eyes together in sync. All our games and exercises are available in binocular mode that requires strengthening of eye muscles needed for convergence. Convergence is especially important for near activities, such as reading and learning.
Dyslexia

dyslexia

My child has dyslexia. Will AmblyoPlay help?

IT DEPENDS! Dyslexia as it is a problem that cannot benefit from vision therapy. However, there have been recent studies that indicated that at least 1/3 of all dyslexia cases are misdiagnosed as the problem lay in vision. If a child has convergence insufficiency, they might see moving letters while reading. It is always good to go and have your child’s eyes tested and if you find any vision related problem – vision therapy and AmblyoPlay could help you! Normal dyslexia on the other hand – not yet!

Do I need vision therapy?

Through steps in this blog you can check quickly at home if your child has a need for vision therapy!

I am adult with these problems.

Can I use AmblyoPlay and will it help me as well or is it just for children?

30 minutes daily therapy

Vision therapy is just like any other training: it requires dedication and commitment to achieve optimal results. Together with doctors and patients we discovered that AmblyoPlay yields great results already if only used everyday for at least 30 minutes. This is why our training program is designed in a form of two 15-minute sessions that combine exercises and games to provide stimuli to your lazy eye or train your eye muscles.

Vision therapy done at home

Our schedules between school, extracurriculars and quality family time get very hectic. It can be often difficult to go for vision therapy sessions to the doctor, yet majority of home exercises are overwhelmingly boring! AmblyoPlay is addressing precisely this problem: we provide vision therapy at home through entertaining children with fun games and exercises. It’s a wonder what a motivated child can achieve!

Personalized for your child

Every child has specific problems and to achieve best results – we must adapt vision therapy program to each individual and his/her needs! AmblyoPlay provides completely personalized vision therapy experience, where our advanced algorithm takes care of delivering precise stimuli to the lazy eye and optimal exercises to help you improve your vision and enable your child to achieve best results!

Monocular and binocular therapy

There are two modes of vision therapy inside AmblyoPlay. Monocular vision therapy for more severe cases where one eye is completely shut of or when one eye is very seriously worse than the other one. In these cases, we must first develop this lazy eye before we can start with binocular therapy, which both strengthens the lazy eye, as well as teaches the brain how to use both eyes together. AmblyoPlay can take you from very difficult monocular beginnings to wholesome well-developed binocular vision!

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT?

Getting driver's licence

Having a driver’s license is for most people key element of their independence. One of the prerequisites is good vision, especially good depth perception. Depth perception is produced by two well-functioning eyes, who send aligned images to the brain. If one eye is lacking, brain might have difficulty consulting both images and will only produce 2D image. With vision therapy that both works the lazy eye and teaches binocularity, we can regain depth perception!

AmblyoPlay playing sports

Playing Sports

Depth perception and good vision are required to play certain sports. Imagine playing basketball or tennis without depth perception? Quite often some kids with undiagnosed vision problems are described as clumsy, but they might just not be able to see properly! Vision therapy helps them strengthen their vision, supports development of depth perception and gives them a fair shot at doing sports!

AmblyoPlay Reading and learning

Reading and learning

Schools nowadays are almost entirely visual: 80% of all knowledge is transferred through visual means, such as reading and observing. Now, imagine what this means for children who have problems in their visual system. They are immediately at a disadvantage, but they might be physically uncapable of reading fast due to their vision problem. Vision therapy such as AmblyoPlay can help them develop their vision, especially strengthen their focus, convergence and accommodation!

AmblyoPlay social trauma

Social trauma

Any society can sadly be quite a hostile place to grow up – especially if you are a bit different. In many cases, kids with strabismus report being bullied, because their eye is ‘weird’. We all know this is not something to make fun from, but kids might not know yet what is acceptable and not. It is normal that everyone wants to avoid this and strabismus can be mitigated to some degree with vision therapy, as it trains the eye muscles and strengthens them to be able to point the eye in a desired direction.
