Raluca doing vision therapy

In this episode, I am hosting 54-years-old Raluca from Romania. Her vision condition triggered her to build knowledge about vision therapy to a level where she could start to provide guidance to patients with binocular vision disorders. Continue reading to explore the transformation from vision impairment into empowering others and helping them with their vision. Let’s explore her binocular vision dysfunction and vision therapy.

How did you come across AmblyoPlay vision therapy?

I found out about AmblyoPlay on Melissa Daniels’ website.

Can you briefly describe what kind of vision impairment you were treating with AmblyoPlay?

I have been doing vision therapy for 4 years for exotropia OU and hypertropia OS.

Did you take any previous approaches for curing your condition?

Yes. I did synthonic phototherapy and I also did vision therapy exercises every day.

What was your starting point? How did the progress go?

I began vision therapy in September of 2018, under the guidance of Dr. Julie Steinhauer from the USA and I continued for 1,5 years. After that, I started studying vision therapy on my own and I also attended optometry courses. After graduating these optometry courses, I started providing online guidance to patients with binocular vision disorders.

For how long have you been using the AmblyoPlay software and what are the outcomes?

I have been using Amblyoplay for a year. It helped me a lot with improving the teamwork of my eyes and also in annihilating suppression in near vision.

What is your overall experience with AmblyoPlay?

I am very satisfied with the application in general.

Would you recommend AmblyoPlay to others?

Yes I do. I often recommend AmblyoPlay to my patients.

Do you have anything to add? Any suggestions or comments are welcome!

I want to add that I would like the design to be changed more often. It’s boring to play the same game for 6 months or an year, even if you are delighted that you have made progress. An adult can easily get used to the idea of having to play the same games every day, but for a child it is less appealing.

In conclusion, it is undeniable that even the most beloved games can become repetitive and boring after a while. However, it’s important to remember that the therapeutic benefits of games can still outweigh this drawback. This topic was discussed in one of our previous blogs. However, we are always on the lookout for new gamified eye exercises that can offer both entertainment and therapeutic value.
